Send your email templates from Chrome’s side panel
Updated
The SendSuite extension opens your templates in Chrome’s side panel, next to whatever page you have open. Fill in the fields while you read the details off the page, check the email and send it from your own Gmail. It is completely free and works in Chrome 116 or later.
How it works
- Open the panel. Click the SendSuite button in Chrome’s toolbar. The side panel opens beside the page you’re on.
- Pick a template. The ones you used last come first, and a search box appears as your list grows.
- Add recipients. Add one or more. Each person gets their own email.
- Fill in the fields. Read the details off the page as you type. What you type stays put when you click into the page to copy something.
- Check and send. Open the preview to see the exact email, then send it. The panel shows what went out.
What happens on the website
Templates are written on www.sendsuite.us, and the panel’s New template button opens the editor there in a tab. The extension and the website share one sign-in and one set of templates.
Mail merge runs on the website too. To send one email per row of a spreadsheet, see mail merge from a CSV file.
Permissions
The extension asks Chrome for three permissions and has no content scripts, so it doesn’t read or change the pages you visit.
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| storage | Keeps a copy of your templates on this computer so the panel opens fast, and keeps what you type until it is sent or the browser closes. |
| sidePanel | The side panel is the extension’s only interface, so it stays beside the page while you copy details into the email. |
| www.sendsuite.us | Loads your templates and sends your emails with your existing sign-in. It is the only site the extension contacts. |
What it keeps
The extension stores no passwords or tokens. It keeps a copy of your templates in its own storage on your computer, and removes it when it finds you signed out or signed in with another account. Recipients and field values stay in the browser’s session storage until the email is sent or the browser closes, and go to SendSuite and Gmail only to send it.
Set it up
- Add it to Chrome. Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store and click its toolbar button.
- Sign in. Click Sign in with Google. Google asks you to let SendSuite send email as you.
- Pick a template. Start from a ready-made template or write your own on www.sendsuite.us.
- Send a test. Send yourself a test, then send it for real.
